📝 A Note About AI Literacy From Todd Quartiere

After an exciting week at the HLTH conference, our Executive Director shares some takeaways and observations.

“AI literacy has never been more important than now, when conferences like HLTH are wall-to-wall with those two letters. I started to categorize companies three ways:

  1. Those using AI as a marketing term exclusively.

  2. Those who have adopted an AI application, are early in their journey, and are over-indexing on the term to capitalize on market interest.

    1. Some claim to have an AI-enabled platform, though in actuality that may only have one or two unsupervised learning models

    2. Others may have adopted one or two conversational elements, like a chatbot powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT.

  3. Those whose companies revolve around AI, either in part or in full.

    1. Industry leaders like UiPath well articulate how they layer a variety of AI applications onto their automation platform.

    2. Startups like Huna have a company that revolves around proprietary models.

Many organizations AI washed so heavily that it became an exercise to learn what they actually do. FAIH is exploring how to improve literacy and separate out an ontology that better articulates the intersection of AI & Health. If you're interested in getting involved with the exploration of a program we’re launching in 2025, please reach out.”
